About Us

Gateway Community Evangelical Presbyterian Church is a brand new church in the Slippery Rock Community that hopes to serve the community and to provide a place for people to explore a relationship with God in a relaxed yet worshipful atmosphere. We are a church plant(or a “daughter” church) of North Park EPC in Wexford, PA. The church is being started with the authority and blessing of our denomination, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, under their mission to establish new churches in college towns throughout the country.

The church launch team began to meet in February 2007 in the University Union Building on the Slippery Rock University campus. The team is comprised of people from North Park EPC, from Youngstown, OH and from Grove City, PA as well as some SRU students and faculty.

This church plant was in the planning stages for several years at North Park and included a thorough study to determine God’s leading in regards to its location. Slippery Rock was the choice and the search team called Dr. Bob Stauffer, formerly the National Outreach Director for the EPC, to be the planting pastor along with his wife, Debbie.

Gateway Community currently meets at 11am Sunday mornings in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) on the main level of the SRU University Union Building. We officially launched September 9, 2007, and we welcome you to visit us! Come early and stay late to fellowship with us and allow us to get to know you.

Our passion is to serve the community with compassion, impacting all parts of the community in positive ways. And we do that from a reformed theological framework which guides us to have a biblical perspective in all we do. We have a particular desire to impact the lives of students in Slippery Rock and Grove City. To that end, we have hired Julie Manfred to minister to the college students.
