Dr. Bob & Debbie Stauffer, Pastor

Bob has been involved in ministry of some kind for almost his whole life - from “playing church” as a toddler, to leading youth ministry during his high school and college years to seminary and eventually to pastoral ministry. His seminary background includes time at both Princeton and Pittsburgh Seminaries, graduating from the latter with a Master of Divinity.  He later received his Doctor of Ministry at Reformed Seminary in Jackson, MS.  In Pittsburgh,  Bob worked for Youth Guidance, Inc. and later became the Assisstant Pastor at North Park EPC in Wexford, PA.  He was a Senior Pastor at Carmel Valley EPC in Del Mar, CA and then at Tabernacle EPC in Youngstown, OH.  For a few years, he was an area director and then a regional director for FCA.  Before coming to Slippery Rock, he served as the National Outreach Director for the EPC for 4 years.

In the last number of years, Bob has developed a growing passion for church planting and church health.  In the area of church health, he has had much training and has trained others with Natural Church Development (NCD), a method for helping churches evaluate their own health.  The move to plant a church in Slippery Rock is a culmination of his long-time desire to be involved in a college environment and his heart for evangelism through church planting.

Debbie serves as the worship leader for the church as well as working with the Hands of Hope ministry.  Before coming to Slippery Rock, Debbie was the Director of Worship & Arts for many years at Tabernacle EPC in Youngstown, OH.  She has been singing for as long as she can remember and writing songs since high school.  She also plays the guitar and some piano.  She has been married to her wonderful husband, Bob, for 28 years and has three beautiful children (Nathan, Serah & Jeremy) and a great son-in-law (Todd).  An interesting side note:  Todd & Serah are part of a church plant in Lexington, KY, where Todd is on staff.
